Johanneskerk (Serooskerke)
The Johanneskerk is the evangelical uniate parish church in Serooskerke in the Dutch municipality of Veere ( province of Zeeland ). It is characterized by the massive late Gothic tower , which was built in the simple style of the village Scheldt Gothic .
history
The parish of Serooskerke was parish off from Oostkapelle around 1200 . Until the Reformation the church was consecrated to Saint John the Apostle . The massive church tower was built during the 15th century . During the Eighty Years War , the nave and choir suffered severe damage between 1572 and 1574. The nave got its present shape at the beginning of the 17th century , the choir, which was only a ruin at that time, was demolished. In its place is now a sacristy from 1880. The choir had lost its liturgical function in the Calvinist church service. During the renovation of the nave, the Johanneskerk became a typical Protestant sermon church . The pulpit from 1661 in the church bears witness to this. The parish belongs to the uniate Protestantse Kerk in Nederland, which was created in 2004 . In addition to the Johanneskerk, the former Gereformeerde Kerk , the Petruskerk, also belongs to the Protestantse Gemeente Serooskerke .
organ
The organ was built in 1926 by the organ construction company Standaart (Schiedam). The cone store instrument has 16 stops on two manual works and a pedal. The playing and stop actions are pneumatic.
