The St. John's Church in Melbergen , the village in a laborer district Gohfeld is a daughter church of the Evangelical Lutheran parish Gohfeld that the church district Vlotho the Evangelical Church of Westphalia belongs.

history

In 1953, a parish for Melbergen was set up within the Gohfeld parish ( Simeon Church ). The services initially took place in a parish hall in the neighboring town of Bad Oeynhausen . In the meantime, the congregation has been collecting money for the construction of its own house of worship, which was consecrated in 1967 as St. It is dedicated to the church patron John the Baptist .

Due to the proximity to the spa clinics in Bad Oeynhausen and Löhne, many spa guests took part in the services in the Johanneskirche. In the meantime, the church is no longer used for church purposes and has been de-dedicated. Instead, it serves as a clothes closet , which is run in collaboration between the Church and the Red Cross .
