The street in Düren-Nord connects Neue Jülicher Strasse with Veldener Strasse .
history
Like Malteserstraße , the street is named after Johanniter-Kommende Velden, which can be traced back to Düren in 1290. The Johanniter received the island of Malta as a gift from Emperor Charles V in 1530 . From that time on they called themselves Maltese .
The street used to be called Mühlengasse . The path got its name in 1881 because the Virnichsmühle was on the Schießbach at the corner of Veldener Straße . It was included in the construction of the Düren metal works at the road junction with the factory premises.
