The Dürener Metallwerke AG in Düren , North Rhine-Westphalia , also Hupertz & Harkort, founded in 1890, belonged to the beginning of World War II, the market leaders in the construction and development of light alloys.

The so-called duralumin was mainly used in airships as well as in aircraft and vehicle construction. Since the end of the 19th century, the metal works were integrated into the German armaments industry. In some cases, over 5,000 people worked in the Düren plant. The factory produced light metal for the manufacture of over 100 zeppelins .

Before the Second World War , the Düren metal works set up a branch in Berlin and in 1936 one in Waren (Müritz) . In 1976 the Dürener Metallwerke, now called Busch-Jaeger Dürener Metallwerke GmbH, filed for bankruptcy.

The Endart culture factory is located in the current building of the old packaging joinery of the Düren metal works . The Fatih Mosque is located in another part of the former factory site .
