John Beltran

John Beltran (born March 4, 1969 ) is an American techno and ambient musician from Michigan . He also published under pseudonyms such as Placid Angles , Nostalgic and Sol Set . His records have appeared on the R&S Records and Peacefrog Records labels, among others .

Life

Beltran released its first records in 1991, initially in collaboration with Open House (Mark Wilson) and under the pseudonym Placid Angles . These releases appeared on Carl Craig's Retroactive Label. After further releases on US labels in the early 1990s, his debut album Earth and Nightfall was released in 1995 on the Belgian label R&S Records . The second album Ten Days of Blue , with which he also made a name for himself internationally in the ambient scene and which remained his most successful work, followed a year later on Peacefrog Records .

From 1997 he briefly used the pseudonym Placid Angles again . In 1999 he released an album on Transmat with Sam McQueen and Seth Taylor under the project name Indio .

In 2002 he released two albums under his real name with Americano and Sun Gypsy . After releasing the albums Full Color (2004) and Human Engine (2006), Beltran reduced the number of his productions. In the next few years mostly 12 "singles appeared.

In 2011 the Beautiful Robots EP was released on Styrax Records and the best-of album Ambient Selections 1995-2011 on Delsin Records. With the album Amazing Things , also released on Delsin in 2013 , Beltran increasingly turned to IDM . In 2015 the ambient album Espais was released .

Beltran lives in Lansing , Michigan .
