John Covel

John Covel 1716

John Covel ( April 2, 1638 in Horningsheath, Suffolk - December 19, 1722 in Cambridge) was an English clergyman and scientist. Among other things, he worked as a clergyman for the Levant Company in Constantinople . From 1670 to 1677 he was clergyman at the English embassy in Constantinople. Part of his diaries from this period (1670 to 1679) were published by the Hakluyt Society .
