Jan Michejda (born July 18, 1853 in Olbrachcice ; † May 14, 1927 in the vicinity of Skoczów ) was a Polish Protestant lawyer, politician, national activist in Cieszyn Silesia , Mayor of Cieszyn , Member of the Silesian State Parliament and the Austrian House of Representatives .

He came from an outstanding family of the nationally conscious Polish Teschen Lutherans. After the Protestant middle school in Cieszyn, he attended legal studies at the Jagiellonian University from 1871 , graduating in Vienna in 1875 . From 1877 he held a doctorate . In 1882 he opened his own law firm in Teschen. From around 1880 he became a Polish national activist (co-founder of Polityczne Towarzystwo Ludowe, Macierz Szkolna dla Księstwa Cieszyńskiego, Polskie Towarzystwo Gimnastyczne "Sokół", Związek Spółek Rolniczych, Luther the Polish national system's opponents, the main opponent of the Polish system Raiffezek Kas Spółkowych) were the so-called Schlonsaken , who were friendly to Germany and opposed to him , first gathered around the superintendent Theodor Karl Haase , from 1909 under the direction of Józef Kożdoń .

In the legislative period, Jan Michejda and Józef Londzin did not join the Polish club in the House of Representatives because of the lack of their support for improving the emancipation of Poles in Teschner Silesia. Both joined the Polish club in 1913. In the years 1918-1920 he was a member of the Rada Narodowa Księstwa Cieszyńskiego (National Council of the Duchy of Teschen), between the years 1922 and 1927 the first Polish mayor of Cieszyn.

His brother was the pastor Franciszek Michejda, his nephew was Tadeusz Michejda .

Jan Michejda died during the opening ceremony of the railway line between Chybie and Skoczów and was buried in the municipal cemetery in Teschen.
