history

The village is located in the Olsa region (also Teschner Schlesien , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).

The name of the village is derived from the neighboring forest, the name of which was first mentioned in 1568 as Zeleny Chyb , today's Chybski Las . Probably shortly afterwards the village was founded.

Politically, the village belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , under the feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia , in the Habsburg Monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial it formed from 1850 a community in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and Schwarzwasser judicial district. A sugar factory was opened there in 1884 by the Teschener Kammer.

In the years 1880–1910 the population rose from 676 in 1880 to 1231 in 1910; the majority were Polish-speaking (between 93.4% in 1880 and 80.9% in 1910), including German-speaking (between 5.4% in 1910) % in 1880 and 13.5% in 1910) and Czech speakers (between 1.2% in 1880 and 5.5% in 1910). In 1910 92.5% were Roman Catholic, 4.2% Protestant, there were 35 (2.8%) Jews.

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Chybie came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

In the years 1927–1930 the Catholic Church was built. The Roman Catholic parish was established in 1957.

From 1975 to 1998 Chybie was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .

In 2009 the sugar factory was shut down by Südzucker Polska SA .
