Politically, the village belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , under the feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia in the Habsburg Monarchy .
After the abolition of patrimonial it formed from 1850 a community in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and Schwarzwasser judicial district. In the years 1880 to 1910 the population rose from 258 in 1880 to 294 in 1910; they were predominantly Polish speakers (between 89.1% in 1900 and 96.5% in 1880) and German speakers (31 or 10.6% in 1900). In 1910, 90.8% were Roman Catholic, 6.1% were Protestant, and there were nine (3.1%) Jews.
In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Frelichów became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Frelichów was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
