Landek ( German Landeck ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Jasienica in Powiat Bielski of the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland .

geography

Landek is located in the Auschwitz Basin ( Kotlina Oświęcimska ), about 10 km northwest of Bielsko-Biała and 40 km south of Katowice in the Powiat (district) Bielsko-Biała.

The village has an area of ​​447 hectares .

Neighboring towns are Chybie in the northwest, Zabrzeg in the northeast, Bronów in the east, Rudzica in the southeast, Iłownica in the southwest, Mnich in the west.

history

The village is located in the Olsa area (also Teschener Silesia , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).

The place was founded in the 16th century by Wacław Rudzki, Lord of Rudzica .

The place was first mentioned on a map as Liandek around 1564 . The name is of German origin : Land-eck .

Politically, the village belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , the fiefdom of the Kingdom of Bohemia in the Habsburg Monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial from 1850 it was a municipality in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and Schwarzwasser judicial district . In the years 1880 to 1910, the population decreased from 328 in 1880 to 302 in 1910, most of them were Polish-speaking (between 100% in 1880 and 98.7% in 1910) and German-speaking (4 or 1.3 % in 1890). In 1910 96.7% were Roman Catholic, ten (3.3%) Protestant.

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Landek came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Landek was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
