John Cuthbert Lawson

John Cuthbert Lawson (born October 14, 1874 in Weston-in-Gordano , Somerset ; †) was a British scholar. He was a Fellow and Lecturer at Pembroke College , Cambridge and a former Craven student at the University.

John Cuthbert Lawson was the son of Robert Lawson and his wife Mary Sackville Lawson, b. Neale, born. He studied at Bradfield College, Berkshire and Pembroke College, Cambridge. Lawson's major work examines the relationship between modern Greek folklore and ancient Greek religion. During the First World War he was Lieutenant Commander of the Royal Navy and from 1917 to 1919 Commander.

In 1900 he married Dorothy Frances Holden, with whom he had two sons and two daughters. His hobby was golf .
