The John D Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway is a National Park Service protected area in the US state of Wyoming . It consists of a strip of land that connects Grand Teton National Park with Yellowstone National Park . In the parkway, the Snake River runs to its confluence with Jackson Lake and the highways US 89 , US 191 and US 278 bundled here .
Memorial Parkway was named after John D. Rockefeller Jr. (1874-1960) to honor him for donating large lots. Rockefeller had in the first decades of the 20th century from private funds and funds of the Foundation Rockefeller lands for national parks like Acadia National Park , Grand Teton National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park , Shenandoah National Park and Yosemite National Park purchased and handed over to the United States.
The parkway encompasses the northern foothills of the Teton Range belonging to the Rocky Mountains , where it merges into the volcanic terrain of the caldera of the Yellowstone volcano .
The reserve has no facilities of its own, its management is taken over by the Grand Teton National Park.
