Jackson is a city in Teton County in the US state of Wyoming . It is in the Jackson Hole Valley . In 2017 the city had 10,532 inhabitants on an area of 7.4 km² . The valley and place are named after David E. Jackson , a trapper and fur trader who wintered in the valley several times in the 1820s.
Jackson is a stopover for many tourists visiting nearby attractions such as Grand Teton National Park , Yellowstone National Park and the National Elk Refuge . There are attractive ski areas near Jackson.
Since 1982, meet every year at the invitation of the Federal Reserve Bank of all the major representative central banks in the Jackson Lake Lodge for Economic Policy Symposium . Once a year, the Jackson Hole Writers Conference , founded by the author Warren Adler , takes place in Jackson.
The city is accessible by air from Jackson Hole Airport .
