biography

Kandahar descent 2017

Breezy Johnson was born in Jackson , Wyoming , in 1996 and grew up in nearby Victor . She started skiing at the age of three and, trained by her father, did her first races in kindergarten. At 13, after a few years at the Jackson Hole Ski Club , she moved to the Rowmark Ski Academy in Salt Lake City .

She competed in her first FIS races at the age of 15 and celebrated her first victory in a giant slalom before her 16th birthday . At the Junior World Championships in Jasná , Johnson achieved 15th place in the downhill and thus achieved the best result in the U18 class. In two other junior title fights, her best result was fourth place in 2016 in the downhill from Sochi . In the Nor-Am Cup , she was able to establish herself in the 2013/14 season with a fifth place overall in the downhill classification. After two victories in this racing series, she won the downhill classification of the 2015/16 season and thus received a fixed starting place for the upcoming World Cup winter.

Johnson made her World Cup debut on December 4, 2015 on the Downhill of Lake Louise . It was there that a year later she won World Cup points for the first time with a surprising eleventh place in the downhill and a 16th place in the Super-G. In January 2017 she was able to repeat the downhill result in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and qualified for the world championships in St. Moritz with a strong tenth place in Cortina d'Ampezzo . There she finished 15 and 28 in downhill and super-G, in the combination she was eliminated. With three top 10 placements, including fourth place in the downhill from Garmisch, she traveled to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and, along with a seventh place in the downhill, reached 14th place in the Super-G.

In September 2018 she suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in her right knee during training in El Colorado and was out for the entire World Cup season.
