John Gower (writer)
John Gower (* around 1330 in Kent , † 1408 in London ) was an English writer .
Gower was a close friend of Geoffrey Chaucer , but never reached his literary greatness. Gower wrote the extensive didactic poem Mirour de l'Omme in French and the allegory Vox Clamantis in Latin . The Confessio Amantis , a collection of rhymed love stories, published Gower in English.
John Gower died in London in 1408 at the age of almost 80.
