John Hegley

John Hegley (born October 1, 1953 ) is an English poet whose poems have been published both in book form and on the radio in Great Britain . He was born in London but spent most of his childhood in Luton . He holds a degree from Bradford University .

Hegley has French ancestry (his father's name was René) and his family is believed to be related to the composer Jean-Philippe Rameau . Before his career as a poet, he directed the comedy group Popticians , which recorded two sessions for John Peel in 1984 and which still tours occasionally with Hegley.
