John Hodge
John Hodge (born 1964 in Glasgow , Scotland ) is a British screenwriter and doctor .
Life
John Hodge was born and raised in a family of doctors in Glasgow . Following tradition, he studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh from 1982 to 1987 and worked as a doctor in Edinburgh for several years . After he met the film producer Andrew Macdonald at a film festival there in 1990 , he began writing scripts . In 1993 he moved to London, where he worked as a doctor and wrote other screenplays, including a. for Trainspotting - New Heroes .
Most of his screenplays were filmed by Danny Boyle , for whose film Trainspotting he received several awards. In 1996 he won the BAFTA Award for best screenplay with this film ; In 1997 he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and won the BAFTA Award Scotland and the Evening Standard British Film Award .
