John Mackey (businessman)
John Mackey (born August 15, 1953 ) is an American businessman and co-founder of Whole Foods Market .
Career
John Mackey studied philosophy and religion for several semesters and also worked for a vegetarian consumer cooperative . In 1978, he and his partner at the time founded a vegetarian supermarket , SaferWay, which two years later became Whole Foods Market through a merger.
