Harvard Business Review ( HBR ) is an influential English-language management - magazine . It is published every two months by Harvard Business Publishing, which is wholly owned by Harvard University . The company's headquarters are in Watertown , Massachusetts. In terms of content, it focuses on leadership techniques and innovations . The magazine is addressed to business executives . Numerous management theorists published in the HBR u. a. Peter F. Drucker , Michael E. Porter , Rosabeth Moss Kanter , Gary Hamel , CK Prahalad, and Robert S. Kaplan . Terms from everyday management such as balanced scorecard , core competence , reengineering and glass ceiling were first discussed in the HBR. The magazine distributes licensed editions in Asia and Europe, u. a. its German-language edition: Harvard Business Manager (HBM).

The Harvard Business Review has been published by Harvard Business Publishing since 1922 . This publisher is owned by Harvard Business School (HBS).

The research-based magazine is aimed at business practitioners and refers to a high-ranking readership from the business world: it is read by academics, executives and management consultants. With the publication of ten foreign-language editions, the worldwide circulation is 240,000 copies. The magazine is editorially independent of Harvard Business School. There is no peer review for the articles that appear.

In 2002 there were some personnel changes in management and in the editorial team following the disclosure of an affair between editor-in-chief Suzy Wetlaufer and former CEO of General Electric Jack Welch . Two senior editors complained that the affair that began during Wetlaufer's and Welch's work on an article violated ethical standards. Furthermore, they cited an unfair working atmosphere and left the company. Shortly after these resignations, Wetlaufer resigned on March 8 amid further rebukes from the rest of the workforce. Three months later, editor Penelope Muse Abernathy was also forced to quit.

The current editor-in-chief of Harvard Business Review is Adi Ignatius .
