John N. Paden

John Naber Paden (* 1937 ) is an American political scientist . One of the main areas of research are Muslim subcultures in Nigeria .

Paden studied Philosophy (BA) at Occidental College and received his MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar . He then earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University .

At Northwestern University , he directed the Center for African Studies. In Nigeria he was Professor of Public Administration at Ahmadu Bello University and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Bayero University.

He holds one of the Robinson Endowed Professorships at George Mason University .
