John Naylor (born June 8, 1838 in Stanningley , † May 15, 1897 on a sea voyage to Australia) was an English organist and composer.

Naylor was a chorister at Parish Church in Leeds, where he was assistant to and student of Robert Senior Burton . At Oxford University he received his bachelor's and doctoral degrees in music (1863 and 1872, respectively). He was from 1856 organist at St. Mary's Church and from 1873 at St. Michael's Church in Sarborough. From 1883 to 1897 he was the successor of Edwin George Monk as organist at York Minster . Some church music vocal works (oratorios, anthems, songs) have come down to us from him.

Of his five children, Edward and Charles were also known as organists and composers, and Henry as an ancient scholar. His brother George Frederick Naylor worked as an organist and composer in England and New Zealand.
