John Patler

John Patler , actually Yanacki Patsalos (born March 14, 1938 ), was the assassin who murdered George Lincoln Rockwell , the leader of the American Nazi Party .

Patler was born the son of Greek immigrants and grew up in a broken family. His mother was killed by his father in 1943 and he was raised by his grandmother and father after he was released from prison. As a child, he was active in a white gang, where he claims to be fighting against black and Puerto Rican gangs . Patler served in the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1960. He was honorably discharged because he unsuitable , was (inappropriately) as it at a meeting of the American Nazi Party was arrested. In 1960, after his dismissal, Patler joined the American Nazi Party. There he was an editor and cartoonist in the right-wing party magazine Stormtrooper . In April 1967 he was expelled, according to the deputy party leader Matt Koehl (after the assassination attempt) because of Bolshevik inclinations .

On August 25, 1967, he shot and killed George Lincoln Rockwell, the founder of the American Nazi Party. For the Rockwell murder, Patler was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment and parole in 1975. However, because he failed to parole, he was imprisoned again for six years. Patler never commented publicly on the motive for the murder.
