John Russell, 13th Duke of Bedford

John Ian Robert Russell, 13th Duke of Bedford (born May 24, 1917 in London , † October 25, 2002 in Santa Fe , New Mexico ) was a British peer and writer.

Russell initially carried the courtesy title of Lord Howland , 1940-1953 that of Marquess of Tavistock . With the death of his father Hastings Russell in 1953 Russell inherited the title of Duke of Bedford and the then associated seat in the House of Lords .

From 1939 until he was wounded in 1940, Russell took part in the Second World War with the Coldstream Guards . He then turned to journalism and worked as a reporter for the Daily Express in 1940.

He wrote the following books:

Russell was married three times and had three children, including Henry Robin Ian Russell, 14th Duke of Bedford .
