John David Clotworthy Whyte-Melville Foster Skeffington, 14th Viscount Massereene, 7th Viscount Ferrard (born June 3, 1940 ) is a British peer .

Live and act

John Skeffington inherited his father's title in 1992 and regularly attended meetings of the House of Lords , where he sat due to his subordinate British title Baron Oriel , as his Irish titles did not legitimize him to a seat. He lost his hereditary parliamentary seat when the House of Lords Act 1999 was introduced . In 2013 he ran for UKIP to no avail .

He went to school in Millfield and later to the Monte Rosa Institute . From 1958 to 1961 he served in the Grenadier Guards regiment . He owns a lot of land, holds some director positions and is a stock broker at MDBarnard & Co. He was a member of the London Stock Exchange from 1961 to 1964 and from 1970 onwards .

Lord Massereene managed the sale of the Chilham Castle family home , which had been for sale since 1994, but was only sold well below expected price in 1996.

Like his father, he is president of the Conservative Monday Club and was a patron of Right Now! . He was on the board of the Freedom Association and Signatory entitled Lord Oriel by The Sanity petition , with the acronym "Sanity" for " S ubjects A gainst the NI ce T reat Y " stands.
