John Vernon (athlete)
John Vernon ( John Ballantyne Vernon; born September 3, 1929 ) is a former Australian high jumper .
At the British Empire Games in Auckland in 1950 he was seventh and sixth at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver in 1954 .
In 1956 he retired from qualifying at the Olympic Games in Melbourne .
1953 and 1954 he was Australian champion. He set his personal best of 2,019 m on March 8, 1954 in Ballarat .
