John Wixted

John T. Wixted (* 1958 ) is an American psychologist . He teaches at the University of California, San Diego .

Wixted studied biology and psychology at UC San Diego (BA 1981). He then specialized in clinical psychology at Emory University , where he received an MA in 1984 and a Ph.D. in 1987. received.

He then taught for a short time in Philadelphia at the Medical College of Pennsylvania , but received a position at UCSD in 1988, where he has since been promoted from Assistant Professor to Distinguished Professor (since 2013).

His main research interests are memory , amnesia , eyewitnesses .

In 2019, Wixted was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
