John van Hengel
John van Hengel (born February 21, 1923 in Waupun , Wisconsin , † October 5, 2005 in Phoenix , Arizona ) was an American and founder of Feeding America , formerly America's Second Harvest in 1976.
John van Hengel founded St. Mary's Food Bank in Phoenix, Arizona in 1967 : a first approach to giving surplus food to those in need. This “ Tafel ” initiative has expanded worldwide and is committed to caring for those in need.
