Johnny Aubert (motor sportsman)

Johnny Aubert (born May 31, 1980 in Maubeuge ) is a French motocross and enduro athlete . In 2008 and 2009 he won the Enduro World Championship in class E2.
Athletic career
In 1983 Johnny Aubert, who comes from a very motorsport-loving family, received his first motorcycle, an Italjet 50, as a gift from his father. His uncle Jean-Jacques Bruno was a well-known French motocross rider. The family also includes Christian Limbourg and Arnaud Demeester .
The following year he drove his first motocross race. Since he grew up in northern France on the border with Belgium , he initially competed in Belgium. In 1992 he started in France for the first time. At the "Minivert" in Saint Die he defeated Sebastien Tortelli in the first run and came second in the second.
In 1993 he was accepted into the Hope French Team and became a works driver for Yamaha Motor France . That year he was French champion in the "Minivert" and "Cadet" classes. He also became world champion in the class up to 80 cm³.
In 1994 he switched to the class up to 125 cm³. Up to his 14th birthday he could only train in Belgium, as this was forbidden to him in France due to his age. The year was not very successful in terms of sport and Aubert was injured several times. In 1995 Johnny Aubert moved to KTM France and finished third in the French Junior Championship. He also drove his first races in the elite championship. In 1996 he won the French junior championship in motocross.
The following year he switched to his uncle Jean-Jaques Bruno's Kawasaki team. Since he was injured more often, he could not build on the results of previous years. Only in the following year 1998 did he manage to win again with the support of Christian Lapraille. He became French supercross champion and won three finals in indoor motocross in Paris-Bercy. In the world championship he was 22.
With the support of Lapraille and Marc Casola, he received a contract from Husqvarna for 1999 . This year he became French champion in the elite class up to 125 cm³. After a knee fracture, he had to give up his ambitions in the world championship. The year 2000 was not very successful due to a lack of factory support and a lack of motivation from Aubert.
In 2001 Johnny Aubert moved to the Yamaha short team. In the Motocross World Championship he was eleventh in the class up to 250 cm³. In the German Motocross Championship he fought for the runner-up title and was fifth in the German Supercross Championship. The year 2002 and also the year 2003, which he contested in the world championship with a 450 cc four-stroke machine, were not very successful. He only reached second place in the German championship.
In 2004 Aubert moved to the United States and competed with Suzuki in several races in the national championships "125 AMA Supercross" and "250 AMA Motocross". However, due to visa problems, he had to return to Europe at the end of the year. From 2005 he drove again in the team of Christian Lapraille and Marc Casola. In winter he finished fourth in the Enduro du Touquet . Since previous injuries did not heal as expected, he was only able to start the season later. Due to the failures of the last few years, his motivation for further motocross competitions had decreased. He therefore announced the end of his career in July.
In September of that year he was approached by the enduro team "Yamaha Ufo Corse". After a first run at a run in Italy, he injured his ankle, but got a contract offer for two years from team boss Filippo Lamotte.
He then made his debut at the Indoor Enduro Championship in Genoa in 2006 and finished second behind the David Knight . He made it onto the podium at the very first world championship run in Sweden. In the middle of the season he led the overall standings. After a fall at the Italian run and a subsequent injury break, he finished fourth in the overall standings with three daily victories at the end of the year.
In 2007 Johnny Aubert was able to build on the success of the previous year. He won seven runs and at the end of the year came third overall. At the international six-day race he won the overall ranking. Also for 2008 he drove with the Yamaha Ufo Corse Team in the E2 class. In addition to five daily victories in the world championship, he also won the overall standings.
In 2009 Aubert started in the world championship in class E2 for the KTM Fabio Farioli team and defended the world championship title.
