Jon Alfred Hansen Mjøen (born July 12, 1860 in Oppdal ; died June 30, 1939 in Vestre Aker ) was a Norwegian chemist, racial biologist and eugenicist. He established a race hygiene institute in Oslo and published the magazine Den Nordiske Race from 1919 to 1932 . According to Samuel Abrahamsen, he was involved in the spread of racist attitudes in Norway like no other Norwegian. He used his influence to campaign for a sterilization law , which was passed by the Norwegian Parliament in 1934.
