Jonah Gogol
Jona Gogol (Latin Jonas Gogol , Polish Jonasz Gogol ; † 1603 in Poland-Lithuania ) was Orthodox Bishop of Pińsk (1595–1596) and Uniate Bishop of Pińsk (1596–1603).
Life
In 1594 he became archimandrite of the Monastery of the Transfiguration of Christ in Kobryń , and he was also guaranteed the right to the office of Bishop of Pińsk. On June 12, 1595, he and other leading Ruthenian Orthodox clergy signed an agreement on union with the Roman Catholic Church in the Kingdom of Poland-Lithuania.
In September 1595, after the death of Leontios Pełczycki, he was appointed the new bishop of Pińsk. On October 8, 1596 he signed the Union of Brest . After that he was Uniate Bishop of Pińsk until his death.
