Jonas Hofrichter

Jonas Hofrichter (born May 14, 1986 in Berlin ) is a German visual artist who lives and works in Berlin.

life and career

Hofrichter studied fine arts from 2006 to 2011 at the University of the Arts in Berlin, first with Dirk van der Meulen and from 2007 with Valérie Favre . From 2008 he studied in Thomas Zipp's class, graduating from his master class in 2011. In 2011 Hofrichter was nominated for the Horst Janssen graphic award. His works are exhibited in Germany and internationally.

The contrast between belonging and demarcation is a dominant theme in Jonas Hofrichter 's work. Recurring protagonists in his works, who often deal with the theme of adventure, are animals. He playfully explores new aspects of the classic artistic genres of painting and sculpture in landscape depictions of fully glazed, unbroken color surfaces and figurative objects made of glued solid wood. While early works are stylistically based on classical modernism, newer works speak a more reduced visual language.

Jonas Hofrichter also worked as an actor in the short film TLMEA by the Austrian director and artist Kevin Kopacka .
