Kevin Kopacka

Kevin Kopacka (born November 19, 1987 in Graz , Austria ) is an Austrian director and freelance artist .

Life

Kopacka grew up in Graz as the son of the Austrian journalist and writer Werner Kopacka and the Sri Lankan Ramani Kopacka. Kopacka has lived in Berlin since 2006, where he completed his studies in fine art at the Berlin University of the Arts as a master student in Leiko Ikemura's class . In 2012, Kopacka was named one of the “Top 30 Groundbreaking Artists Under 30” by the US trade magazine “Art Business News”. He exhibited his art in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Northern Ireland, France and the USA.

In 2014 Kopacka met the cameraman Lukas Dolgner , with whom he has been making films as a director, screenwriter, producer, editor and composer ever since. His short films Hades and TLMEA were shown at festivals around the world and won several awards. Dolgner and Kopacka shot the feature film Dawn Breaks Behind the Eyes in 2018 , a. a. with Jeff Wilbusch and Anna Platen in the leading roles.

At the end of 2018, Kopacka founded the film production company Crossbones GmbH together with Lukas Dolgner , Lili Villányi and Philip Rother.

Kopacka's works often deal with metaphysical themes such as time, time loops and infinity, as well as the idea of hell and punishment.
