Jonathan Ball Publishers is a South African book publisher based in Johannesburg in the Jeppestown district .

The publishing house was founded in 1976 and specializes in the country's English-language literature. His range of topics essentially includes works on history, politics and contemporary history with reference to South Africa, as well as biographies, literary and sports topics. He acts as an agency for British and US publishers and also takes on marketing and sales tasks. In addition to the publisher's name, books are published under the South African imprints Sunbird and AD Donker .

Jonathan Ball Publishers also published selected fantasy literature, including works from the Harry Potter series and JRR Tolkien's books The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit .
