André du Pisani (2014)

André du Pisani (born January 15, 1949 in Windhoek , South West Africa , today Namibia ) is a Namibian political scientist .

education

Du Pisani holds a Bachelor's degree (1971) and a BSc. Honors (1972) in Political Science from Stellenbosch University in South Africa . In 1975 he did his master's there . Thirteen years later, Du Pisani received a Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Cape Town . He later supplemented his academic training with postgraduate research studies (1975–1976) at the London School of Economics and Political Science .

Professional background

Before 1994 he was employed in South Africa as a university professor at UNISA in Pretoria , where he taught political science. In 1983 he was granted Visiting Fellow status at City University of London . In 1995 and 1996 he did a research stay at the University of Cambridge . Du Pisani has been a professor at the University of Namibia since 1998 . He was chairman of the Southern African Defense and Security Management Network (SADSEM) and country coordinator of the scientific research project of the Volkswagen Foundation . Du Pisani sits on various boards, including the Journal of Namibian Studies and the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) as well as the John Muafangejo Art Center . In 2014 he retired .
