Jonathan Malu Kazadi-Muyombu (born June 9, 1991 in Bern ) is a Swiss basketball player who has been under contract with Lille Métropole Basket since 2019 .

career

The son of a Swiss mother and a father from the Congo grew up in the Bümpliz district of Bern . He started playing basketball in his hometown at the age of seven and moved to Friborg Olympic at 15 . He played in the club's youth movement, in the second men's team and from 2007 in the national basketball league . In 2008 and 2016 he became Swiss champions with Friborg and also won the national cup competition in 2016. He was the team captain. Due to a knee operation, he missed large parts of the 2014/15 season.

For the 2016/17 season Kazadi was signed by Orléans Loiret Basket from the Ligue Nationale de Basket , the first division in France. With Orléans he was relegated from the French first division. He returned to Switzerland after a year and was signed to the BBC Monthey in the summer of 2017  . He left Monthey during the season and moved to the French second division club Aix-Maurienne at the beginning of 2018.

In July 2018 he was announced as a new addition to the national league club Lions de Genève , but the contract was terminated only a few weeks later: Kazadi used an exit clause and accepted a contract offer from the Spanish second division club CBC Valladolid. After the end of the season in Spain, he returned to Switzerland in May 2019 to join the Lions de Genève in the battle for the championship title. He finished second with Geneva.

In July 2019, he was announced as a new addition by French second division club Lille Métropole Basket .

National team

In 2008 and 2009 Kazadi took part with the U18 national team at the European B Championships in Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the summer of 2009 he received his first squad for the senior national team .
