Jonathan Pie

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jonathan Pie is a fictional British journalist and the alter ego of English actor and comedian Tom Walker. Jonathan Pie first appeared on his YouTube channel of the same name in September 2015 and is distributed via social media . Pie became internationally known for a video with an angry speech after Donald Trump's election as US President, which, among other things, quickly gained widespread use on the Internet through an article in the Huffington Post .

Pie does satire similar to a cabaret . In it, Pie portrays a British reporter who is angry and cursing about politics and the media during breaks. Since the recordings represent outtakes , Pie is not aimed directly at the viewer, but at his producer Tim. The format achieves its effect by contrasting the role of the journalist with the unfiltered opinion as a private person.

After his first appearance shortly after the election of Jeremy Corbyn as opposition leader in the British Parliament , he received various inquiries from various media companies, one of which was the television station RT , with which he worked until July 2016.

In the meantime, Jonathan Pie gives live performances, most of which have received very positive reviews. Among other things, Pie is compared to the British satirist John Oliver, who lives in the USA .
