JOPA Eis was a German ice cream brand .
history
The ice cream was produced between 1933 and 1969 in Munich by JO sef PA nkofer , a pioneer in the production of industrially manufactured ice cream and frozen food . The advertising figure was the Jopa-Eis-Clown by the Swiss graphic artist Herbert Leupin . Pankofer originally ran an ice cream parlor, which later expanded its product range with - at the time sensational - ice cream sticks . Gradually, he equipped kiosks and grocery stores with freezers in order to expand his distribution channels. Finally, Pankofer also started manufacturing frozen products so that the chests would not be left empty during the cold season. From 1936 made Schöller in Nuremberg for JOPA licensed initially only the four flavors vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and lemon. In 1969, Nestlé took over the company. A year later, the Nestlé subsidiary Jopa Eis / Findus TKK merged with the Unilever subsidiary Eskimo Eis / Petter Iglo ; there was the Eskimo-Iglo GmbH. Unilever held 75% of the shares; 25% remained at Nestlé.
