Jorge Alejandro Boccanera (born April 18, 1952 in Bahía Blanca , Buenos Aires Province ) is an Argentine journalist and writer.

When the junta, led by General Jorge Rafael Videla, came to power in 1976, Boccanera went into exile in Mexico . It was only after Argentina found its way back to democracy under Raúl Alfonsín in 1983 that he returned to his homeland. Due to the economic crisis and the resulting deterioration in the political situation, Boccanera went to Costa Rica in 1989 and did not return to Buenos Aires until 1997 .

He currently lives there and works as a journalist for the news and press agency Télam . In addition, he holds a "Chair for Latin American Poetry" at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín .

reception

In his early works like Los espantapájaros suicidas or Contraseña , Boccanera is still overshadowed by a Poesía Conversacional by Mario Benedetti or Juan Gelman . But he soon found his own style thanks to his special imagery. His laconic language, in which most of his poems are written, including mostly surprising punchlines, is characteristic.
