Jorge Díaz Cintas

Jorge Díaz Cintas (born April 4, 1964 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish translation scholar . He teaches audiovisual translation at Imperial College London .

Live and act

From 1984 to 1989 Díaz Cintas studied Modern Languages (including English, German and French) at the University of Valencia , where he obtained his bachelor's degree. In 1993 and 1994 he worked for a few months as a translator and terminologist at the European Parliament in Luxembourg. Díaz Cintas obtained his PhD in audiovisual translation with a focus on subtitling in 1997, also at the University of Valencia. From 1994 to 2008 he taught translation studies and Spanish at the University of Roehampton and since 2008 he has been Associate Professor of Audiovisual Translation at Imperial College London. Díaz Cintas has written numerous articles on this subject, edited edited volumes and participated in worldwide conferences. In addition to his university activities, he is also a freelance translator and interpreter.
