Jorge Manuel Martins da Silva (born August 12, 1954 in Alhos Vedros ) is a former Portuguese football goalkeeper .

Career

Martins began his career at FC Barreirense , which he remained loyal to until 1983. From 1983 to 1984 he was under contract with Vitória Setúbal . During this time, he was called up to join the Portuguese squad for the 1984 European Football Championship in France . Martins was not used, as in all games for Portugal in which he was called up. From 1984 to 1985 he was under contract with Benfica Lisbon , where he won the Portuguese Cup. The next season he was under contract with Belenenses Lisbon , where he was also called up for a major event. During his time in Lisbon , he was called up to the Portuguese squad for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico . Again he was not used. Then the goalkeeper played another season at SC Farense and then ended his career.
