Jorge Villamil Cordovez (born June 6, 1929 in Neiva , Huila , † February 28, 2010 in Bogotá ) was a Colombian composer .

The life's work of one of the most important composers in his country, Villamil Cordovez, consists of well over 200 songs. These include the songs "Me llevaras en ti", "Espumas", "Los Guaduales", "Llamarada" or "Oropel". The spectrum of his works extends in the Colombian music genres from porro to bolero. He has received numerous awards for his compositions. Among other things, he received five gold records. He was also the founder and former chairman of the Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Colombia (Sayco).

Villamil Cordovez, actually a doctor by profession, was married to Olga Lucia Ospina and had two children with her. He died in his home on February 28, 2010 at the age of 80 after a lengthy illness.
