Jorge de la Vega (flautist)

Jorge de la Vega is an Argentine flautist.

De la Vega studied at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo until 1979 , where he took flute lessons from Lars Nilsson . Since 1983 he has been principal flutist in the orchestra of the Teatro Colón . He attended courses from András Adorján and Paul Meisen and, between 1985 and 1987, his master class at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . In 1990 he gave his first concert in the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall .

From 1994 he directed the cycle Jueves de Cultura of the Colegio de Escribanos in Buenos Aires for ten seasons . In 1999 he gave the world premiere of Carlos Franzetti's Milenium Concerto . In 2000 he conceived and realized the didactic concert Los Animales de la Música with Ernesto Acher , which was also performed at the Teatro Colón in 2005 and 2006.

As the first solo flutist of the Brazilian Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de San Pablo , he undertook a concert tour of the USA in 2002 and a tour of Brazil in 2004. In 2004 he played the world premiere of Paquito D'Riveras Gran Danzón for flute and orchestra with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires .
