Lars Nilsson (flautist)

Lars Nilsson (* in Karlskoga ) is a Swedish flautist and music teacher.

Nilsson studied flute at the Conservatory in his hometown and at the Royal Conservatory in Stockholm and continued his training with Aurèle Nicolet in Berlin and Marcel Moyse in Switzerland. From 1961 he was a member of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra.

In 1966 he was appointed to the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Argentina, where he was professor of flute, solo flutist in the university orchestra and member of the wind quintet. He performed as a solo flutist a. a. in Chile, Ecuador, the USA and Sweden, where he also gave courses and master classes. His students included Santiago Clemenz , Patricia Da Dalt , María Cecilia Muñoz , Sebastian Hidalgo and others. He gave world premieres of works by contemporary composers such as Qamar by Juan María Solare (1999) and released two CDs of contemporary Argentinean flute music in 2002.

Nilsson founded the Encuentros Musicales para Estudiantes de Música , which have been held in Mendoza since 1976 , and in 1991 the camping musical "Nueva Vermland" . From 1974 to 1994 he also appeared as a member of the Argentine folklore group Markama .
