Jorginho Gularte

Jorginho Gularte , real name Jorge Damiao Gularte , (born February 16, 1956 in Montevideo or Porto Alegre , Brazil ; † September 7, 2013 ) was a Brazilian- Uruguayan composer, guitarist, singer and music producer.

Life

Jorginho Gularte was the son of the Brazilian carnival dancer Martha Gularte . He recorded a total of four solo albums. These were "La Tambora", "Influencia", "AlmaZen" and "Fata Morgana". His most famous piece is "Tambor Tambora". However, "Mi sangre esta alborotá", "Cascatunga" and "Desalojo" also addressed a wide audience. His musical repertoire ranged from the Uruguayan "beat", which he had been associated with since the 1970s, to candombe , blues , soul and funk . He was considered an innovative percussionist. In a fight during a wedding reception on May 6, 2002 in the "W Lounge" nightclub, he suffered such serious injuries that he initially fell into a coma. The incident was never fully resolved. Later he also suffered severely from the aftereffects, for example had perception problems and only partially regained the ability to speak.
