José Ángel Mañas (born October 22, 1971 in Madrid ) is a Spanish writer.

In 1994 he published the novel Historias del Kronen , published in German as Die Kronen-Bar and filmed as a meeting point Kronenbar . The milieu study of young people in Madrid was considered a cinematic success in Spain. In 1995 the novel Mensaka appeared , which was filmed under the same name.

In 1996 his third novel Soy un escritor frustrado was published , a detective novel that became known in Germany under the title The story of my uncanny success . In this book, Mañas tells the story of a frustrated writer who appropriates a student's sensational novel manuscript in order to finally achieve success. He kidnaps the student and then lives the double life of a celebrated author and a psychopath who hides the student from the public. The novel was filmed under the name Imposture and shown in Cannes in 2005 .

Other novels are Ciudad Rayada from 1998, Sonko95 from 1999, Mundo Burbuja from 2001, Caso Karen from 2005, and El secreto del oráculo from November 2007.

Mañas is considered to be one of the most promising authors of young Spanish literature, who takes an ironic look at reality.
