José Antonio Pechar novel
José Antonio Pecharroman Fabian (born June 16, 1978 in Cáceres ) is a former Spanish cyclist .
José Antonio Pecharroman began his career in 2000 with the Spanish cycling team Costa de Almería . In 2003 he had his breakthrough when he won the Euskal Bizikleta and the Tour of Catalonia . He then signed a contract with the Belgian team Quick Step , but could not build on the successes of 2003 in the next few years. At the Burgos Tour in 2006 , he finished second overall behind Iban Mayo .
In December 2007 he was released from his Benfica team because of a positive doping test . He was sentenced to nine months in suspension by the Spanish Federation. That ban was lifted in January 2009 by the Court of Arbitration for Sport . His former team had to pay him € 54,000 in compensation. Pecharroman did not return to international cycling.
