José Antonio Picasarri Olozaga (born February 13, 1769 in Segura / Gipuzkoa , † September 21, 1843 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine clergyman and musician.

Picasarri came to Buenos Aires in 1783 and the following year he entered the city's seminary, which was directed by his uncle Juan Bautista Goiburu . In 1796 he was ordained a priest. From 1793 he was cantor at the cathedral in Buenos Aires, and in 1807 he succeeded Mateo Caro as Kapellmeister. In 1817 he gave a large orchestral concert in Buenos Aires.

As the teacher of his nephew Juan Pedro Esnaola , he is at the beginning of an independent Argentine musical culture. He also wrote the lyrics to his song La Gloria de Buenos Aires . Because of his opposition to the Argentine independence movement, he had to leave the country with his nephew in 1818, but was able to return with him in 1822. In the same year he founded the Sociedad Filarmónica , with which he introduced the works of composers in Argentina.
