José Antonio de Donostia
José Antonio de Donostía (born January 10, 1886 in San Sebastián , Spain , † August 20, 1956 ), actually José Gonzalo Zulaica, also known as Aita Donostía (Padre Donostía or Padre San Sebastian after his hometown), was a Basque Franciscan priest , Musicologist and composer . He studied Basque folk music intensively throughout his life and wrote several important treatises on it. From 1936 to 1943 he lived in exile in France .
His best-known compositional works are the “Preludios vascos”, fifteen romantic-looking piano works in the style of Edvard Grieg or Robert Schumann , determined by Basque folklore .
