from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

José Lino Matute (* 1780 ; † unknown) was from November 12, 1838 to January 10, 1839 Supremo Director of the Province of Honduras within the Central American Confederation .

Life

After a constituent assembly of Honduras had decided to separate from the Central American Confederation and José María Martínez Salinas had signed the constitution , the latter handed him the post of Supremo Director for health reasons.

The constituent assembly, which had met in Comayagua since October 10, 1838 , produced another constitution on January 11, 1839, which Lino Matute signed under the heading "Ejecútese - Execute!"

He issued the corresponding implementing provisions that the export and import duties of the ports of Honduras were no longer due to the confederation, but to Honduras.

The government in San Salvador offered to convene a Central American meeting to solve the problems of the same, which Lino Matute rejected on the same day.

Francisco Ferrera took part in the dispute with the federal government under José Francisco Morazán Quezada to which the separation of Honduras led. On April 5, 1839, his troops and those of Nicaragua were defeated by the forces of Morazán at the Battle of Espíritu Santo in El Salvador. On September 25, 1839, the troops of Honduras were surprised in San Pedro Perulapán and Francisco Ferrera injured, whereupon he fled to Nicaragua .
