San Pedro Perulapán is a municipality in the Cuscatlán department in the center of the Central American state of El Salvador .
San Pedro Perulapán is located 21 kilometers east of San Salvador .
Geographical classification and location
It belongs to the Distrito Cojutepeque. The municipality is divided into 17 cantons and 120 caserios . The municipality borders in the north on Suchitoto, in the east on Santa Cruz and Tenancingo Michapa, in the south on Lago de Ilopango in the west on Oratorio de Concepción, Perulapía and San Martín.
Attractions
The bell that rang for the victory of the troops from El Salvador still hangs in the church tower . In the parish church there is an icon of the village saint St. Peter , which has a bullet hole. The Cerro de Guazapa can be seen from the church tower . The paved road from Suchitoto to San Martín leads traffic past San Pedro Perulapán.
Batalla de San Pedro Perulapán
On September 25, 1839, José Francisco Morazán Quezada had 800 soldiers from El Salvador, 2,000 soldiers from Honduras and Nicaragua under Francisco Ferrera beaten because the governments of Honduras and Nicaragua wanted to break away from the Central American Confederation .
